01 / Research focus

Research that builds on itself

Four interconnected research directions spanning medical imaging, physiological and behavioral intelligence, and advanced foundation models.

01MEDICAL IMAGING AI

Intelligent Analysis of Medical Imaging Data

Lesion detection and segmentation, disease recognition, quantitative analysis, and risk assessment across multi-center and multimodal imaging, with emphasis on generalization and clinical utility.

02PHYSIOLOGICAL & BEHAVIORAL AI

EEG and Multimodal Physiological–Behavioral Modeling

Integrating EEG, ECG, eye-tracking, video, and behavioral data for temporal representation learning, multimodal fusion, individual state estimation, and robust behavioral understanding.

03TRAINING & INFERENCE

Large-Model Training and Inference Optimization

Pretraining, parameter-efficient adaptation, reinforcement learning-based post-training, knowledge distillation, complex reasoning, and inference acceleration for reliable, efficient models.

04UNIFIED FOUNDATION MODELS

Unified Vision–Language and Multimodal Physiological Foundation Models

Unified representations and alignment across vision, language, EEG, and other physiological signals, enabling joint pretraining and multi-task understanding, reasoning, and generation.

We encourage work across these themes, but prioritize coherent questions and cumulative progress over short-lived trends.

02 / Opportunities

Find your place in the group

Each stage has a different role. Choose a track to see the expected background and development goals.

Requirements & expectations

Select a role below to expand details. Milestones are developmental targets—not rigid hiring or degree requirements.

01Postdoctoral ResearchersIndependent research · Collaboration · Mentorship

What we look for

  • Ph.D. in AI, computer science, electronic engineering or a related field, with solid research experience.
  • Ability to identify worthwhile problems, design and carry out experiments, and lead research writing independently.
  • Experience in high-quality academic publications and collaborative projects is valued.

What you can develop

  • Lead a focused research topic aligned with the group’s long-term priorities.
  • Contribute to proposals and collaborations, and mentor junior researchers.
  • Aim for 2–3 representative high-quality research outputs over an appropriate appointment period, while building an independent academic identity.
A note on expectations

Development targets are discussed according to appointment duration and research maturity; they are not mechanical publication quotas.

POSTDOCTORAL SUPPORTRMB 400,000–600,000in total annual compensation for eligible postdoctoral researchers, subject to qualifications and institutional policies.
02Ph.D. StudentsDeep exploration · Originality · Independent thinking

What we look for

  • Strong mathematical, programming, and machine-learning fundamentals.
  • Research initiative, curiosity, and willingness to study a focused problem over multiple years.
  • Prior publications are helpful but independent contributions and research potential matter more.

What you can develop

  • Develop a clear, connected research trajectory rather than disconnected one-off projects.
  • An aspirational goal is 3–5 related, high-quality papers during the Ph.D., with impact and coherence more important than the count.
  • Gradually take responsibility for study design, writing, collaboration, and mentoring junior students.
A note on expectations

Admissions, eligibility, degree requirements, and funded places follow the relevant university and programme regulations.

03Master’s StudentsMethod development · Reproducible systems · Applied research

What we look for

  • Good programming, mathematical, or AI-related foundations.
  • Reliability, a willingness to learn, and interest in research or research engineering.

What you can develop

  • Complete at least one end-to-end research or research-engineering project.
  • Possible outputs include an academic study, a reusable training or evaluation framework, a model, or a research prototype.
  • Learn to document experiments and communicate findings clearly.
A note on expectations

Research and research-engineering pathways are equally valued when the work is rigorous and reusable.

04Undergraduate InternsResearch foundations · 8–12 weeks · Flexible remote work

What we look for

  • Primarily open to second- and third-year undergraduates with basic programming skills and genuine curiosity.
  • A suggested initial commitment is 8–12 weeks and roughly 6–10 hours per week, adjustable around academic schedules.
  • No prior publication is required; communicate progress, ask questions, and report results honestly.

What you can develop

  • Understand and reproduce one representative experiment or method.
  • Carry out one reproducible benchmark, robustness study, or failure-case analysis.
  • Write a short evidence-based report: what worked, what failed, and what should be tested next.
A note on expectations

A paper is not required and is not promised. Strong performers may be invited to participate in longer-term projects, subject to fit, supervision capacity, and applicable programme rules.

All positions, funded places, salaries, and admissions depend on actual openings and the regulations of the relevant institution or programme.

03 / Our approach

A research culture built for the long term

We value strong papers, but we care just as much about how good research is done.

01

Curiosity

Ask why a method works, where it fails, and what is not yet understood.

02

Independent thinking

Go beyond reproducing numbers; question assumptions and test meaningful hypotheses.

03

Rigor

Make experiments reproducible, report negative results, and respect evidence.

04

Ownership

Take responsibility, communicate clearly, and follow difficult questions through.

05

Long-term contribution

Build reusable methods, datasets, systems, and knowledge with teammates.

04 / Research environment

Resources for meaningful research

We aim to provide an environment where good ideas can develop through independent work and interdisciplinary collaboration.

High-performance GPU resources and opportunities to work with contemporary foundation models.

Academic collaboration across computing, AI, medical research, and clinical partners.

Opportunities for international academic exchange and collaborative visits, subject to eligibility and available support.

Mentorship appropriate to career stage, with an emphasis on scientific independence and long-term growth.

05 / Get in touch

Interested in joining?

A concise, specific email is more useful than a heavily polished generic research statement.

For postdoc / graduate applicants

Send a CV and a short description of your contributions, research interests, and the problems you want to explore. Include representative papers or projects if available.

For undergraduates

No elaborate proposal is required. Tell us what you have studied or reproduced, what questions you found interesting, and how much time you can commit.
